2005 Liveable Vision Awards
The Liveable City Vision Award is given to individuals or organizations that have advanced Austin's quality of life. Our 2005 recipients are leaders in the field of affordable housing. Their work has helped address the growing affordable housing crisis faced by many Austin residents.

| HousingWorks, a new broad-based coalition dedicated to improving access to affordable housing. Award accepted by Frank Fernandez (Austin CDC), Heather Way (Foundation Communities), Karen Paup (Texas Low Income Housing Service).
Greg Weaver, ProLogis (formerly Catellus Development) for a precedent-setting commitment to 25% affordable housing in the Mueller Redevelopment Project.
Rep. Eddie Rodriguez's innovative Homestead Preservation Act creates a new financing tool to provide housing for the people of East Austin.

Moving Forward: A Progressive Agenda for Austin's Future
There is a growing awareness that we have reached a new era in the life of our city. Many have come to believe that it is time to find common ground if we hope for our values to survive and our community to progress in our state's current political climate. Liveable City took the first steps in organizing Moving Forward: A Progressive Agenda for Austin's Future. We are committed to bringing together a diverse, broad-based group of progressive organizations and individuals to create a shared vision and develop a positive agenda for Austin's future. Liveable City Board Resolution Regarding Transit at Mueller and the November 2004 Rail Election
Liveable City has consistently stated that the values expressed in our community surveys show that Austin residents support an "urban village" approach to development, in which cities are made up of neighborhood communities, with strong community involvement, efficient transportation options, and each containing a mixture of housing options and businesses embedded within the community.

Liveable City Releases 6th and Lamar Study Economic Impacts of Local Merchants versus Chain Retailers
Some economic developments can hurt the local economy, not help it. That's the message of an innovative economic study released today by local nonprofit Liveable City. The study, conducted by the Austin-based economic analysis firm Civic Economics, found that, despite increasing sales of both books and music, Borders will actually result in a decrease in economic activity to Austin.
